ActiveCampaign integration & automation

Marketing automation that keeps every contact's history in sync with everything else you use

ActiveCampaign remembers what a contact did — opened an email, clicked a link, filled a form — and turns that into a marketing action. We connect it to your CRM and other tools, so a contact's activity updates their card everywhere at once, and a new contact from another system reaches ActiveCampaign the moment it appears, ready for the next email in line.

What we connect

  • Contact records stay synced between ActiveCampaign and your CRM — a new contact or an update in one shows up in the other without retyping.
  • When a contact opens an email, clicks a link or fills a form, that activity can set off an automatic next step instead of a manager watching for it.
  • Each team member connects with their own personal access key, issued from ActiveCampaign's account settings — not one shared code for everyone.
  • An older and a newer way of connecting to ActiveCampaign keep working side by side, so an existing setup doesn't break when new features roll out.
  • During busy sending periods we pace requests to ActiveCampaign so the connection stays within what the account allows, instead of getting cut off.
  • For anything a ready-made link doesn't cover, we build a custom connection on top.

Automation scenarios

01

A contact fills a form on the site

Before the contact sits in a spreadsheet until someone checks it and adds them by hand.

After the contact reaches ActiveCampaign automatically, and a welcome sequence starts on its own.

02

A contact clicks a link in a campaign

Before nobody outside marketing sees that the contact just got interested.

After the click updates the contact's card in the CRM too, so sales can follow up while it's still fresh.

03

A new team member needs access

Before everyone shares one login and one access code, which makes it hard to tell who did what.

After each person gets their own personal key from account settings, so actions stay traceable.

04

A campaign send hits a busy period

Before too many requests go out at once and the connection breaks.

After requests are paced to fit the account's allowed rate, so nothing gets lost — just delayed by a moment.

How it works technically

For those who want to check: each point links to the official documentation page it comes from.

Limits

The request-rate limit sits at 5 per second per account; ActiveCampaign also returns the current limit and the remaining allowance in the response, so the pace of requests can be adjusted before hitting the wall.

How to start

Three steps from a first message to work on your project.

  1. 01

    Leave a request

Describe the task in the form — in text or by voice. Budget and timing are optional.

  2. 02

    We review and estimate

A developer studies the brief, asks about anything unclear and sends an estimate.

  3. 03

    We start

Once scope and price are agreed, the work begins.

Questions

Does every request need its own access key?
Yes — requests are authenticated by an access key sent in its own dedicated field, and each user in the account has their own individual one.
Can the whole team share one access key?
It's not built to be shared — every user in the account gets their own individual key, issued from the Developer tab in account settings.
Is the older way of connecting to ActiveCampaign going away soon?
No — the earlier version keeps running, and ActiveCampaign says it isn't planning to retire it, with a promise of plenty of advance notice if that ever changes.
What happens if we send requests too fast?
ActiveCampaign allows 5 requests per second per account; going over that pauses further requests for a short, specified wait before trying again.
